E.A.S.T.E.R.

The word of the week of course is Easter. 

We've been manipulating the letters and reconstructing. 

Two of our more fun activities include the use of eggs! 

TP Roll Eggs 

With a three year old we always have empty toilet paper rolls. They can be reused for so many activites. For this activity they are perfect egg pedestals. 

What you need:

6 Empty toilet paper rolls (or cut three in half) 

Plastic eggs

Sharpie

1. Write the letters of the word Easter on the toilet paper rolls, one letter per roll, in upper case. 

2. Write the letters of the word Easter on the plastic eggs, one per egg, in lower case. 

3. Match the lower and upper case letters. 

Rainbow Egg Letter Match

We are really trying to focus on letter recognition. 

I especially like this activity because it has a built in "hint" to help in finding the correct letter. 

What You Need:

Colored Foam (make sure the colors match the colored markers you choose) 

Colored markers (make sure the colors match the foam you choose)

Small egg pattern (I used a plastic egg that opened vertically) 

White strips of paper

Sharpie

1. Choose what words you want to focus on. 

2. Write one word per strip of paper using a different color for each letter. 

3. Using your egg pattern, trace eggs onto the colored foam making sure you have an egg for each letter. Cut. 

4. Using the sharpie write the letters of the word you chose on the foam eggs. 

Make sure the color of the foam matches the color you used for that letter. 

(You could use lower case letters for more of a challenge). 

5. Have the child match the lettered eggs to form the word on the paper including color matching.
