Craft Day 11-26-11

Today I crossed some craft projects off my list for Eve's room. They included doing her footprints in plaster, paintings (with her hand and foot prints) and my favorite: a mobile. (an idea I got from my friend, Becky) See pictures below.
Eve really didn't like getting her hands and feet all yucky with plaster and paint- where does she get that from? But she did great otherwise. The prints on everything turned out really clear.

I don't claim to be an artist but I do claim to have fun with my daughter and want her to be surrounded by things she or we can make together.

Thanks Grandma for helping with the mobile! Turned out awesome!!!

Eve's First Thanksgiving 11-24-11

Even though this day still means remembering our history (What do other countries do by the way?), I find that it took on a whole new meaning to me this year.
For this child I am forever thankful. The love and joy she has brought into our lives is increasingly overflowing. Each new day is a new adventure. I find tears (of joy) in my eyes often as I watch her, whether its her eating, playing, or sleeping. I am so enthralled by her and what she has brought into Douglas' and my lives. We feel so complete.

Today was the first time I've hosted Thanksgiving at my house as well as cooking a turkey. The turkey looked beautiful and tasted, well, like turkey. Nothing spectacular but at least it wasn't horrible, right? Loved today! Loved having all the family around enjoying one another. Best Thanksgiving- ever!

Thank you Jesus, on this day, that we stop and remember all the reasons we are blessed. You are the giver of these blessings and I am so thankful and humbled that You have chosen to give this enormous blessing to us to love.

Turning 3-0, Friend or Foe?

As I turn 30, I feel each year behind me; each creak, crack, ache, and visible winkle now upon me.  And yet, even as I feel the ancientness creeping up on me I have never felt so young and full of life! My body may not be what it was ten years ago. My memory may be on its way to failing. I may be closer to being OLD then being young but I feel so ALIVE! The changes in my life recently have kept this old lady on my toes. The biggest change, of course, is Eve! She has brought so much JOY into my life - it brings me to tears how much love fills my heart. Watching Douglas becoming more comfortable with being a Dad and how much he adores Eve has only made me more in love with him.
So, as I start losing some of my youth and start gaining winkles I am content. I feel blessed to have my sweet little family to grow "old" with.

7 months old- 11-11-11

Yikes! Closer to a year than to being just born. That's so scary how fast this is going. I just can't believe it.

Ate carrots for the first time 10-16-11 LOVED THEM!
Also on her menu:
Green beans
Yellow squash
Snap peas
Sweet Potatoes
Pooping like a champ! :) getting ready to introduce fruits this week.

She didn't take to the green beans right way, but we kept at them and now she likes them. :) All veggies are being made by me, simply cooked and pureed. I like making them and I like knowing what she is eating.

First Halloween: 10-31-11 dressed like Little Red Riding Hood; mom was Granny; dad was the Woodsman ( Our Hero).

First Tooth/Teeth: 11-02-11 (its actually two! the bottom two)
Popped up nice and sharp!  Ouch!!! She is starting to gnaw on her crib! My little woodchuck. LOL

Crawwwwwliing like a pro and pulling up on things like its nobody's business. She had stood without holding on several times: so ready to walk but seems too awkward still.

Biggest Challenge:
Call me crazy, but its actually not the teething even though its caused many sleepless nights and hair pulling moments.
It's actually her new found love of standing and walking around in her crib. The problem is she doesn't know how to get back down! She will wear herself out and cry and cry.... many, many, many times in the night. At times its so pitiful, its funny. Mostly, its the middle of the night and Im tired so you guess how it is....

Estimated height:
28 inches

Estimated weight:
15 lbs
