"You and me, drawing pictures so wild and free
While the paint goes flying,
Your big smile brightens up the room
You and me, reading books in bed
Your head on my shoulder,
Your eyes on the pages ahead
How did you grow so big overnight
How'd you get so smart and bright
Yesterday you were asleep in my arms
Today you're growing off the charts
I'm SO proud of you! "
Eve Leighton Drummond: 6 times around the sun you have gone and what a wild journey it has been. I have watched you grow into an amazing empathetic, kind, leader. You are the first to volunteer to help and are eager to come alongside other children and help them when needed or to offer sympathy when hurting.
This past year has been a hard one to navigate, for you and for me and Dad. We were able to finally come to a diagnosis of why the world just seemed a littler more challenging for you. And after years of my gut telling me there was a need you needed extra support with we found your support. This year you have been diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and it seriously made a WORLD of difference in understanding you and allowing us to come alongside you.
The way you go through life will always been a little tougher, a little more emotional, a little more consuming. But I know if any little person was given this special perspective on life to navigate with ease and finesse it is you. You are one strong, tenacious girl! One that is paving her own way through life and making those you come into contact with better.
The ease you find with communicating with people, of all ages, leaves me in wonderment.
The eagerness you find in asking questions to further your knowledge, astounds me.
The love poured out to others when they need it most, makes me fall in love with you so much deeper.
Eve, little love, You.. Are... Amazing! You are the most perfect version of yourself because God made you how you are. And I really can't imagine you any different. The spunk you bring to our lives and the kindness you offer the world is enough.
This year you have exploded with reading! You can not get enough of books. You walk around following us reading out loud. You are up late hours in bed because you can't seem to put your books down. The latest book that you have surprised both me and your dad was reading The Wizard of Oz. You read it with such ease and confidence. You love reading books on videos to send to all your little friends. May this love that burns inside you continue to open the world to you!
Thank you Eve for the balance you bring to our family! You have been and will continue to be the answers to our prayers, whether its for a lesson in patience or a lesson in love.
HEIGHT: 48 inches (Folks, that is FOUR FEET TALL)
WEIGHT: 43 pounds
Heavenly Father,
From a person that so longed to be a mom, thank you for the gift you brought to us. After much time and patience in Your timing you truly brought this child of yours into our lives just when we needed her. She continues to be the blessings that only You can give. We pray you guard her heart and fill her with the passion you have for people. Continuing to watch over her and speak to her as she looks to you to guide her life choices. Amen.
