Poetry

So my sister in law (Ryan) thinking of me and Baleigh sent me this Haiku about a cat.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I'll sleep on your face.
That will sure show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail!
Behold, elevator butt.

The rule for today:
Touch my tail, I shred your hand.
New rule tomorrow.

In deep sleep hear sound
cat vomit hairball somewhere
will find in morning.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then --
silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds --
your foot just squashed one.

You're always typing.
Well, let's see you ignore my
sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What's a 'term paper?'

Small brave carnivores
Kill pine cones and mosquitoes,
Fear vacuum cleaner

I want to be close
to you. Can I fit my head
inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, poop! Help! I got outside!
Let me back inside!

Oh no! Big One
has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams;
My claws are not that sharp.

It definitely fits us for sure. I even have some pics to prove it ....

Then in my "schooling" I wrote a poem that I thought I would share with you now since I am on this topic. Please remember I am NOT a poet and this was intended for my elementary education class! Anyway, here it is:

PAUL

There once was a creature so tiny, so small
To all those who knew him they call him by Paul
But to those up above who knew him not well
By another name they called him and that name was Mel

Paul would say again and again, "That is not my name."
But they would not listen, "He is playing a game."
He would stand at their feet while he started to yelp
But no one, not one understood or would help

To get their attention he tried many things
But to his disappointment, no luck did it bring
They would simply bend down and give him a pat
And say, "Here have a treat, you silly 'ole cat"

Jess,
This poem really describes the inter-relationship between cats and owners. Or should I say cats and their pets. Anyway, I like the poem.

I think your poem is great! You're very creative...with a pen and in the kitchen. The cupcakes you made look scrumptious.
